Is DMSF NMC Recognized?

This is the most important question for every Indian student and parent. The short answer: Davao Medical School Foundation is listed and follows the standards required by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for Indian students to be eligible to practice in India after completing MBBS and clearing the screening test.

However, NMC rules change every few years. So before applying anywhere — including DMSF — students must always verify the latest NMC guidelines directly. We help you check this during counseling.

What is NMC?

NMC (National Medical Commission) is the body that regulates medical education and practice in India. It replaced the older Medical Council of India (MCI) in 2020. Any Indian student wanting to study MBBS abroad and later practice in India must follow NMC rules.

NMC Requirements for MBBS Abroad

According to current NMC regulations, an Indian student studying MBBS abroad must meet ALL of these:

• NEET Qualification: Must have qualified NEET-UG before starting MBBS abroad. Mandatory.
• Minimum Course Duration: The MBBS program (including internship) must be at least 54 months.
• Internship Requirement: Must complete a 12-month internship in the same foreign country where the MBBS was studied.
• Medium of Instruction: The entire course must be in English.
• Same University: Must complete the full course in the same university (no transfers).
• Recognized Institution: The medical college must be recognized by the medical regulatory body of that country.

FMGE vs NEXT — What You\'ll Need to Clear

After completing MBBS abroad and returning to India, students must clear a screening exam to practice medicine in India:

• FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination): Currently the screening test conducted by NBE. Pass mark: 50%.
• NEXT (National Exit Test): Expected to replace FMGE. Will be a unified exam for both Indian MBBS graduates and foreign MBBS graduates.

How Hard is FMGE?

FMGE has historically had pass rates between 10–25%. But this is misleading — students from good colleges with proper preparation have pass rates above 60%. DMSF students with disciplined study and proper coaching typically perform well in FMGE.

After FMGE — What Next?

• Apply for MBBS license in your state medical council
• Start practicing as a doctor in India
• Option to pursue PG (MD/MS) through NEET PG
• Government job applications (after fulfilling state-level criteria)

Common Mistakes Students Make

• ❌ Skipping NEET because they think it\'s "not needed abroad" — WRONG. Without NEET, you can\'t practice in India.
• ❌ Choosing colleges with course duration less than 54 months — won\'t meet NMC criteria.
• ❌ Doing internship in India after MBBS abroad — internship MUST be done in the same country (Philippines).
• ❌ Trusting unverified agents who promise "guaranteed" admissions to fake colleges.
