A doctor is made at the bedside, not in the lecture hall. The biggest reason DMSF alumni clear FMGE/NExT and succeed as practitioners is the depth of clinical training during their MBBS years. Theory is one thing โ knowing how to read a patient's face, examine an abdomen, present a case, or respond to a crashing patient is something only hands-on hospital exposure can teach.
DMSF has its own teaching hospital (DMSF Base Hospital), which is the foundation of clinical training. Students don't have to be sent to outside hospitals for postings โ the patient pool, the casualty, the ICU, the operation theatre are all right there on campus. This translates to more consistent training and more hours of direct patient care.
FMGE and NExT both test clinical reasoning heavily. Students who only know textbook answers struggle. DMSF graduates consistently report that the clinical scenarios they encounter on FMGE feel familiar โ because they've actually seen those patients during clerkships and internship.
