Updated 2026 guidelines โ what Indian students must know before choosing a Philippines medical college.
Important: NMC regulations are subject to change. This page reflects our best understanding as of 2026. Always verify with the official NMC website (nmc.org.in) or consult our admission counsellors before making decisions.
Yes โ Indian students who complete MBBS (MD degree) from an NMC-recognized Philippine medical college like DMSF can practice medicine in India after clearing the NExT exam (National Exit Test, formerly FMGE). DMSF is fully NMC-compliant: 54-month MD program + 12-month internship, English medium, WHO/IMED listed.
All Indian students seeking MBBS admission abroad must qualify NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). You need to meet the minimum cutoff โ a high score is not required for DMSF admission, but NEET qualification is non-negotiable under NMC rules. Students who have not cleared NEET cannot apply for MBBS abroad.
The Philippines medical college must be listed in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED) maintained by the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER). DMSF is listed in the IMED directory and recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO). Always verify any college's status before paying fees.
NMC requires that the MBBS/MD program abroad be at least 54 months (4.5 years) of teaching + 12 months of clinical internship. DMSF's MD (Doctor of Medicine) program is fully compliant โ 54 months of structured teaching followed by a 12-month internship in affiliated hospitals. The BS Pre-Medicine (1 year) is a prerequisite for the MD program.
After completing the MD program and internship in Philippines, Indian students must clear the NExT exam (National Exit Test) to obtain registration as a doctor in India. NExT has replaced the old FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduates Examination). The exam is conducted by the NMC twice a year. DMSF students have consistently achieved some of the highest NExT/FMGE pass rates โ 500+ passes in December 2025 alone.
NMC has emphasized that the medium of instruction must be English for Indian students to be eligible for the NExT exam. This is where Philippines has a massive advantage โ it's the largest English-speaking country in Asia and all teaching at DMSF is in English. Students from countries like Russia or China who studied in local languages have faced NExT eligibility challenges.
NMC requires Indian students applying to MBBS abroad to have scored at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in Class 12 (or equivalent). For SC/ST/OBC students, the minimum cutoff may be 40%. This is in addition to NEET qualification.
